Cuba
Havana’s romantic atmosphere and infectious energy are the stuff of legend. Over 500 years of roller-coaster history have conspired to create one of Latin America’s most electric and culturally unique societies. At the forefront of modern Latino culture, Havana has spawned salsa and mambo, Havana Club rum and Cohiba cigars, mural painting and Che Guevara iconography. Nowhere else but in the streets of Havana is the Spanish colonial architecture so abundant everywhere you look there is an unique image waiting to be recorded.

Monument Valley & Slot Canyons
Monument Valley provides perhaps the most enduring and definitive images of the American West. The isolated red mesas and redrock buttes and spires rising hundreds of feet into a boundless blue sky surrounded by empty, sandy desert have been filmed and photographed countless times over the years. It looks just like it does in the countless movies, photographs and television commercials. As a result, Monument Valley became an icon of the Old West. More info...

Death Valley National Park
Rich with photographic opportunities, Death Valley is a superlative desert of streaming sand dunes, snow-capped mountains, multicolored rock layers, water-fluted canyons and 3 million acres of wilderness. Death Valley is a land of beautiful extremes. The heat, the dry, harsh environment and the seemingly desolate ruggedness of its landscape conspire to make this national monument an extraordinary visual experience. In the winter when the temperatures drop and the skies become moody with the promise of rain that never comes, the landscape blossoms into a heaven of photographic opportunity. More info...

Africa: Kenya - Wildlife Migration Safari
The very word safari was invented in Kenya where in Kiswahili it means "journey." The boundless wilderness and big game of this region has long attracted adventure seekers from all over the globe. Few countries even come close to the range of landscapes, unique geographical features and amazing species that you'll find in Kenya. At the heart of these lands is the Maasai Mara Game Reserve, widely considered to be Africa’s greatest wildlife reserve. Contiguous with the plains of the Serengeti, the Mara is home to an astounding array of life. The first sight of this natural wonderland is breathtaking. Here the great herds of shuffling elephants browse among the rich tree-studded grasslands with an occasional sighting of a solitary rhino. More info...

Join Travel Photographer of the Year Award winner Lorne Resnick as he guides you in creating compelling and unique images. This limited selection of digital photography workshops will provide you with an exceptional learning experience in some of the most beautiful places on Earth. Whether you are looking for a travel photography workshop or one on shooting landscapes, nature or people, Lorne can guide you.

Lorne’s teaching is based on the belief that you can define almost every image into on of two categories: Lyrical vs. literal (or interpretation vs. documentation). It's the difference between “I was there and saw this” and “I was there and felt this.” Lorne has developed a specific structured system to produce emotionally impactful images. This system is geared towards communicating emotion from any subject and is not based on right or wrong “rules." Lorne’s 8-step system is framed not in terms of learning (or breaking) rules, but in terms of using available elements and skills to powerfully convey emotion to the viewer. Lorne will show you how to create and craft each image to generate maximum impact that ultimately leads to being able to create images with your own personal unique vision and voice.

Resnick’s workshops are geared toward every participant level. Whether you're a novice or pro, Lorne will not only have you generating more powerful images, but will also give you the structure and understanding to enable you to continue refining your skills once the workshop is over. The theme of each workshop is to have you creating images with a greater sense of purpose, in essence, finding and refining your true vision. He will look at how you approach your image making and what the basic elements of a successful image are. Also touched on will be other vital aspects of photography, including correct digital exposure, workflow, processing digital images, manipulating images, what photographic equipment to buy, backing up your work, etc.

I thought I had pretty much seen and heard it all. But as a result of Lorne’s group talks and his one-on-one discussions, I felt as if I was just beginning to learn how to “see”. He shattered my photographic paradigm and took me into a new dimension. He rekindled the flames of passion for photographic art. It’s a good thing digital film is so cheap. If I were still shooting Tri-X, I would have gone broke since returning from Cuba.

I thought it would be a good trip. It was far better than I had dreamed. I thought it would be educational, but it became an awakening.

I have travelled to over 50 countries and experienced many different cultures as a traveler and photographer. Now having been fortunate enough to attend two Cuba photography workshops with Lorne, I would easily rank the workshops and travel to Cuba as two of my most enjoyable travel experiences. The great environment is complimented by the fine organization and just down right fun group atmosphere that Lorne creates to add to your visual inspiration. Even months after the trip you are constantly amazed at the moments, both photographically and personally that you experience. It is like a great movie that you keep experiencing over and over again in your memories.
